Summer seasonal offering - Papua New Guinea Peaberry Coffee – Sigri Estate – We are so happy to be able to offer this amazing coffee. We roast this at a medium level to bring out a variety of fruit, nutty and chocolate flavors. As with Indonesian coffees, this has low acidity with a smooth finish. After tasting this coffee, it immediately became one of our favorites.

What makes a peaberry different?

Instead of having two seeds in a coffee cherry, a peaberry only has one. The smaller size provides a concentration of sugars and its round shape also allows for a nice even roast.

Sigri Estate:

Sigri estate is known for producing some of the finest coffees in Papua New Guinea. This coffee is a washed Arabica bean that undergoes a rigorous wet factory process. Quality Control begins in the field; Cherries are hand-picked and carefully checked for uniformity; it must be red and fully ripe which allows for the correct balance of sugar and acid within the cherry. This selected cherry is then pulped on the day of picking.

Sigri considers soil and water conservation as a priority and the estate is bird and eco-friendly. Sigri employs a medium density shade strategy, using two types of shade trees. This promotes even ripening of coffee cherries and provides habitat for at least 90 species of birds.
